This policy brief explores the impact of students’ physical and mental health on their educational attainment (GCSE outcomes) in Northern Ireland and makes recommendations for policy and practice based on data-driven evidence.
This Data Insight by Dr Michelle Jamieson analyses data relating to nurses and midwives and others of similar social grade. Around 60% of people analysed lived within 10 km from of their place of work, a distance within which active travel is feasible. Yet over 70% of both groups travelled to work by car.
The information presented in this policy brief summarises findings from five published research papers by researchers based within the Administrative Data Research Centre Northern Ireland (ADRC NI, part of ADR Northern Ireland). This Data Insight explores the association between disengagement from school and youth homelessness. The team analysed data from a screening tool forming part of a youth homelessness prevention scheme in Wales, known as Upstream Cymru. Three forms of school disengagement were measured: exclusions/suspension, truancy, and misbehavior.
